pumpkins

1. Decorative gourds have taken over my local supermarket. I am so okay with that.

2. Not that it’s felt like fall here lately. I think we had one legit chilly day. Otherwise I’ve been sweating on my walk to work every morning and wearing tank tops on my weekly runs. Pleasant.

3. Speaking of fall, I really want to go pumpkin picking. And honeycrisp picking. And apple cider donut picking.

4. Okay, fine. Mostly apple cider donut picking.

5.  In case you’re wondering, I made absolutely zero headway this weekend in picking a salon to do my hair and makeup for the wedding. Other than to convince the.boy that we absolutely must have the salon come to us and not the other way around. Because you guys said so. Therefore it it is true.

6. He responded by making me work on seating charts. AKA punishment.

7. Did I mention that I’m sick? I got my first cold of the season on Friday and it seemed like I was on the road to recovery by Saturday morning, but it is definitely lingering. I don’t approve.

8. I think the cold might have something to do with it, but I have been finding it impossible to stay asleep at night. Basically I wake up around 2AM, wide awake, and ready to start my day. After going to bed at midnight. Not good.

9. I’m sure my 4pm coffee breaks are totally innocent in all of this.

10. But seriously. SEATING CHARTS. Why.

  1. I am not sure why but I actually enjoyed doing the seating charts for our wedding! Guess it felt like a game or challenge of some sort… Sorry you haven’t been sleeping. Lots on your mind, probably! Hang in there. And eat more cider donuts 🙂

  2. Trisha says:

I agree about having the salon come to you! I also hated doing the seating chart. It felt like a puzzle that I couldn’t solve… It’s exciting that you’re getting so close!! Eeek!

  3. Seating charts suck. Esp if you have relatives or friends that can’t be at the same table together. . or just do it and let them deal with it. We’re all grown adults right? I hope you feel better soon. . being sick sucks. and hopefully the cold weather will get there soon and you can go pumpkin picking, apple picking and apple cider donut picking, which like you said, is the most important thing of all. A few weekends ago, we went to a farm to do all of this and they were out of apple cider donuts . . so we went to another one. . which was only 4 minutes away. . all out too. Hoping you have better luck my friend. 🙂

  4. bahahhaa glad the internets helped your decision 😛 and ooooh Michael and I both think seating charts will be fun! But that’s the OCD in us—it’ll probs. end up being drama just like the guest list (which is STILL not finished). le sigh.

  5. Apple cider donut picking is so the best 😉 And yes, that 4 pm coffee is probably not helping you sleep! Try switching to tea!

  6. SallyBR says:

Insomnia is a serious problem for me. I will spare you of the details, but let’s say I learned to accept it as part of my “metabolism” – for lack of better word. And try not to let it bother me. Too much.

when it’s just lack of sleep i can deal with it, but when it comes coupled with early morning nightmares, my day gets rotten. Nothing like waking up from a nightmare and having to start the day. It really affects me a lot more than little sleep

did not mean to whine in a comment. Sorry….

running in light t-shirts – will be over soon here, but cooler runs are a lot more fun than summer ones…. even I can admit it 😉

  7. Rachel says:

Love the gourds! And seriously, what is with this weather in NYC? It’s so humid today, I feel like Monica in that old ep of Friends when they go to Barbados and she has the crazy huge frizzy hair :\

  8. I am so down with apple cider donut-picking. I mean, that’s why all “normal” people go to apple orchards right?

  9. Heather says:

Seating charts are the worst punishment ever. I think you should reward yourself by going apple cider donut picking when they’re done… it’s only fair.

  10. I think y’all should just let people duke it out for seats – I mean – free entertainment right? I know am so wrong! I will console myself by tagging along with you when you go “apple cider donut picking” – though some might argue that’s not a punishment – I say to those – stop hating! 🙂

  11. Thinking of the seating charts like a puzzle – it could be fun! (So sayeth the gal who only had 25 people at her wedding…)

  12. Feel better! Also come out to long island to go apple picking! It can be a date!

  13. Kate says:

Apple picking season is over here. And you want to know the saddest part? We don’t have apple cider doughnuts round these parts. Although I’m also pretty bummed that we don’t grow honeycrisps around me too – just winesaps, Jonathans, Jonagolds, granny smiths, and pink ladies.

  14. sandra says:

I too would like to go picking – been a lot of talk about it but we haven’t made it to an orchard and to be perfectly honest with myself – it ain’t happening. Not this year. Oh well – Can always buy those doughnuts at the corner shop…

  15. Ugh, currently dealing with that darn cold and it is not pleasant at all!

I like the idea of donut picking;-)

  16. Hotly Spiced says:

I think the seating plan creates more grief with regards to a wedding than anything else. And then there’s the guests. My sister got married nearly four years ago and there was an old neighbour my parents thought they had to invite (they’d been to all previous family weddings). This woman complained that she was put at a table too close to the back of the room. Well someone had to sit there and as she wasn’t family and as she wasn’t having to get up to do a speech and as she wasn’t a close friend of the bride or groom, she just should have been grateful she wasn’t in the hallway. Whatever way you do it, not everyone’s going to be happy xx

  17. Sarah says:

Yayyyyyyyy apple cider donut picking 🙂 There are so many choices in the donut shop it is just like apples on the apple tree ~ but harder because choices!

Good luck with the seating chart! If you want to save some time…. 😉 you may want to adopt the philosophy of “today two families come together at one” and thus —> seat yourselves wherever you like!

  18. Can I come apple cider donut picking too?! I’m so glad I’m far away from seating charts because they look like TORTURE. I’m JUST looking for a dress this weekend (Yay!) and ugh so sorry about that cold! There’s a horrible virus going around here that I am just getting over so I feel you girl…feel better!

  19. cheri says:

Hi Joanne, hope you feel better, I had to stop drinking caffeinated coffee, now I drink decafe. Good luck on the seating chart!

  20. Pam says:

We got married on a boat at sunset in the middle of Lake Tahoe. The boat only held 30 people… I didn’t have to do seating charts – it was awesome!

I am fighting a cold right now too and it’s making me feel miserable. UGH. Hope you feel better soon.

  21. Apple cider donut picking! Sign me up. That’s all I want to do this weekend.

  22. Reeni says:

Yes to it all! Apple cider donut picking especially! Hope you’re feeling better!

  23. I love decorating with gourds too. I would go apple cider donut picking too. I hope you cold goes away soon.

  24. Hahaha.. This totally reminds me of when I went to my boyfriend’s cousin’s wedding. My boyfriend was not happy where we were sitting, so he switched the little name stones around (they made these ah-dorable name stones. I still have mine) and the bride got mad. Like he didn’t see that coming..

  25. Sues says:

Oh man, I hope you’re feeling better and managing to get some sleep! Seating charts are totally the worst 🙁

  26. Isadora says:

I am so all over those pretty pumpkins and squash and gords too! I want them all! So sorry you are sick, but hopefully that means you got your one sickness for the season and won’t be sick for the wedding! I hope you feel better soon 🙂

  27. Kelly says:

Eeks seating charts – no fun but totally necessary if you have relatives or friends that can’t be at the same table together. Yes to all the pumpkin picking, apple picking and apple cider donut picking – which reminds me that we still have yet to go too. Hope you feel better soon too, Joanne!

  28. I am so in love with fall (autumn) that I am struggling to contain my excitement at the squash and leaves and pretty much everything. And then you mention apple cider donut picking! That is even a thing?! Swooning over here.

Hope you feel better soon xo

  29. alyssa says:

In case you don’t know about it, there are free online seating charts which make it much more fun to move people around ;). Just google, “free online seating chart maker”.

  30. Christine says:

Let’s hope this is your “winter” cold and you’re done with it. Then the wedding festivities can get on without any such annoying interruptions! Feel better.

  31. P says:

I am totally in the pumpkin mood too! Kind of wishing the weather would catch up…sort of 😛

  32. Danguole says:

I’ve never understood the seating charts. After 5th grade, it’s just silly, yeah?

  33. Hey – you’re getting your cold out of the way before your wedding. That’s a GOOD thing!! 🙂
