white pumpkins

1. This weekend was ALL about wedding errands, in case you couldn’t tell by me talking about it INCESSANTLY. I promise I’ll shut up about it in about 40 days. Give or take. (But mostly give…we can’t handle any fewer days!)

2. I may or may not have bought all the white pumpkins from a HUGE Wegmans in Central Jersey. $2 centerpieces? Damn straight.

3. And then we spent $3,000 on alcohol. So it all evened out.

4. Is it crazy of me to seriously be considering making pumpkin butter for everyone as wedding favors?

5. But crazy/AWESOME, right?

6. What new fall tv should I be watching? So far I’m still stuck on my old favorites – The Mindy Project, New Girl, Parenthood, and Grey’s Anatomy – but maybe that’s just because i haven’t experienced anything new. Enlighten me.

7. We got a Vitamix from our wedding registry and The.Boy keeps bugging me to buy the ingredients to make smoothies. He’s thinking tropical fruits like mangoes and pineapples, but it’s going to be pretty funny when I bust out some kale for green smoothies.

8. Okay, fine, andΒ probablyΒ a mango (or eight).

9. It’s still a green smoothie if it has ice cream in it, right? And kale. But definitely ice cream.

  1. The white pumpkins will be adorable centerpieces! We got married in November so I’m partial for fall weddings. It may be a bit crazy to make pumpkin butter as favors, but I’m sure people will love it. We gave maple candy (small packs in the shape of leaves and pumpkins) from a local maple farm.

  2. Everything you’re planning for your fall wedding sounds perfect! November weddings are the best πŸ˜‰ There are so many natural items you can use to decorate…and they’re inexpensive! We used gourds, pumpkins, etc. for general decorations and then did centerpieces with hurricane lanterns, pinecones, and bittersweet vine. Easy! Can’t wait to see how all your decor ends up looking – beautiful, I’m sure!

  3. 40 days… are you getting married on my birthday? :-p Love the idea of white pumpkins as centerpieces!

  4. Crazy awesome is right! Lucky guests if you do decide to make the pumpkin butter…and hey, it just might be therapeutic, right? πŸ˜‰

  5. Sues says:

The first time I made a green smoothie in my Vitamix, I didn’t make one for my husband because I assumed he would think I was crazy. He asked me to make him one and now we’ve been drinking them pretty much every day for months. It’s amazing.

    I LOVE the white pumpkins!!

  6. eeeeeeeeeee it’s getting so close!!!!! So exciting!
    and omg those white pumpkins-geeeenius!

….I don’t wanna even talk about how much money (which I don’t have) that I’m spending *sigh* inviting 300 people to a wedding is a horrible ideaaa

  7. Meg says:

Oh goodness, the wedding is almost here — so excited for you! I really wanted a fall theme for our November wedding, but I’m already too pumpkin-obsessed as it is — our science/literature scheme worked out well, though I am enamored with your white pumpkins. πŸ™‚ They’re going to be so pretty!

We have very similar taste in television — those are some of my favorite shows, too! I started watching “Marry Me” (last night was the second episode) and it is really, really funny and cute. Also love “About a Boy” and started watching “The Voice” this season . . . never have before, but it’s a light diversion!

  8. I am totally loving the idea of white pumpkin centerpieces! And YAY for a new vitamix! Definitely stick with the green juice—maybe your man will come around. πŸ˜€

  9. Trisha says:

Ah I’m jealous–I’m totally pining for a Vitamix. Those white pumpkins would be gorgeous in wedding centerpieces! Can’t wait to see pictures of the big day. So soon!

  10. Irina says:

Pumpkin butter is crazy awesome indeed! And I’m super jealous of your Vitamix, although my tiny NYC kitchen wouldn’t be able to handle it’s greatness (i.e. the space it consumes haha).

  11. Pumpkin butter is a great favor, I wish you luck! I am so amazed how you don’t get too stressed out… I need to be more like you. Med School, blogging every day and planning a wedding, you must not need sleep or drink a lot of coffee! LOL! OMG I cannot wait to see the pumpkins as centerpieces too!

  12. New TV recs?! Ask and you shall receive!!! I really like: Bad Judge, Gracepoint, Selfie, Marry Me, and The Flash. Some of them have a bit of a slow start but they’re good. I promise!

  13. Heather says:

If you have time, the pumpkin butter would be an amazing favor! Who doesn’t love a thoughtful, homemade, yummy gift??

  14. You’re getting SO CLOSE! (not to scare you or anything…you have plenty of time and everything will get done and be awesome!). We love Brooklyn 99 for Fall TV. It’s replacing the void Parks and Rec left.

  15. Pam says:

Love the white pumpkins for centerpieces & think pumpkin butter for wedding favors is a great idea! 40 days & counting. Super excited for you.

  16. If you are giving away pumpkin butter as wedding favors – then I hope you don’t mind me crashing your wedding! That sounds like a fantastic idea! And as long as those smoothies have kale in them, it doesn’t matter what else goes in there right?!!

  17. Ania says:

Pumpkin butter is a great idea — but if you plan on making it on your own, be careful as I don’t think it’s something you can process easily via canning. I made peach jam for our wedding – a lot of work but TOTALLY worth it. If you want an alternative to make – what about apple butter? Super easy to make (can do it in a slow cooker/crock pot) and also really yummy πŸ™‚

  18. 1 – you were this side of the river and didn’t come visit?
2 – Lauren Conrad made apple pies for her recent wedding, so pumpkins butter is not crazy.
3 – check out Marry Me, it’s funny. Stalker, but not if you’re home alone. And I’m so sad this is the last season of Parenthood. I think they’re destined to make me cry every week until it ends.

  19. Eileen says:

Those little pumpkins are excellent! You have to love wedding bargains, right? Pumpkin butter sounds delicious, but it also sounds like the kind of thing that can potentially drive you crazy as the date gets closer. If you are already going crazy, it’s ok to just make pumpkin butter for yourself! πŸ™‚

  20. Kate says:

I recommend Forever. It’s my favorite new fall show. It’s about an ME in NYC who can’t die. Not in a vampire way, but in a “I can’t figure out why every time I die I wake up the next morning” kind of way. But it’s like a CSI kind of show since the ME is the one solving the murders.

  21. Christina says:

Even if I’m not invited, can I get some of that pumpkin butter?! πŸ™‚ Andddd can I say I’m not loving most of the new fall shows…..?

  22. im curious how boy will react to green smoothie, of course there will be mangoes right?
pumpkin butter for the wedding favor is a great idea, i am sure guests will appreciate that πŸ™‚

  23. Zainab says:

You are crazy!! Don’t be canning before your wedding missy. But I do love the idea eeeeepppp! Get those bridesmaids working πŸ™‚

  24. Talk about your wedding as much as you like Joanne – it is a special time and you should be having fun and I love the idea of the pumpkin butter for wedding favors and the white pumpkins for centrepieces – just lovely.

  25. White pumpkins? I have not seen those before! They look amazing though – perfect for a wedding.

  26. debbie says:

I can’t think of any new TV shows but I did recently watch all the episodes on Netflix of Orange is the New Black and loved it!!! Pumpkin centerpieces sound like a great idea. The white is just so pretty!

  27. Sarah says:

Good luck with the wedding plans! Pumpkin centerpieces look beautiful, I can’t wait to see your wedding photos.

Vitamix blender is awesome! My mom got one a while ago, and she’s been making kale smoothies every week. Looking forward to some ice cream and kale smoothie recipes πŸ˜‰

  28. Hotly Spiced says:

The pumpkins are gorgeous and will be beautiful centrepieces. I’m amazed your wedding presents are arriving so quickly. A vitamix is a great gift xx

  29. Danguole says:

I think it would be AWESOME if you made pumpkin butter for your guests! Unless it stresses you out. Then you might have to spend even more on alcohol… But hey. It’s your day, you do whatchu want!

  30. I’m so excited for you — the white pumpkin theme sounds perfect!

  31. You’re all kinds of awesome. πŸ˜‰ $3,000 on alcohol + pumpkin butter favors. Um, we’re is my invitation??
I wish I had some good t.v. suggestions for you, I need some. Well, maybe. I’m watching Grimm (again) funny and. fall-y. Also, once upon a Time. Cheese yet satisfying.

  32. P says:

You seriously bought all those pumpkins?? I shouldn’t be surprised ;D

  33. Love the idea of pumpkins as centerpieces. Love pumpkin butter idea too!

  34. Haha, green smoothies should always have ice cream. Don’t you know? :p

  35. I love your centre pieces. We had nougat for our wedding favours πŸ™‚

  36. If you add kale, all the other ingredients don’t count. Truth.

  37. Kelly says:

Love love love all those white pumpkins – such a fun idea! I would totally love pumpkin butter for a wedding favor but that is just crazy talk for any bride to be slaving over. Yes to adding kale and ice cream to smoothies πŸ™‚

  38. Wow, the wedding is getting close. I think the white pumpkins will be lovely.

  39. Johanna GGG says:

yes to pumpkin butter for wedding favours – what else would everyone want – and yes to green smoothies but the problem is you just can’t hide that kale – still wanting to convince sylvia about green smoothies – perhaps I can see which of us breaks through first πŸ™‚ good luck with all those wedding errands

  40. Your Wednesday coffee talks are so hilarious–they really brighten my day.

  41. Megan says:

I’m still stuck on Grey’s and Parenthood too (so sad it’s the last season!) and Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, and Revenge. I’ve been giving Selfie, Manhattan Love Story, A to Z, and Marry Me a chance. Still deciding if I’m going to stick with them. They’re entertaining anyway.

  42. You are going to love the Vitamix. It’s life changing. The boy better watch out . . . you just might marry the Vitamix instead πŸ™‚

  43. OMG I put kale in basically EVERY smoothie I make in my Vitamix. My kid loves ’em, too! If a 2-year-old can do it, the.boy TOTALLY can πŸ˜‰
