mac and cheese dumplings

1. Mac and cheese dumplings. AKA the best part of superbowl sunday.

2. AKA my new favorite food group.

3. My thighs really wish I were joking.

4. So what was the verdict on the Parenthood series finale? I kind of had a feeling something tragic was going to happen, but I’m glad they tied it all together in the end. I like having a sense of closure.

5. The top 23 phrases every crazy, stressed out business owner needs to memorize. I’m carrying a cheat sheet with me from now on.

6.ย I have that on-the-verge-of-getting-sick tickle in my throat, and I don’t like it. I don’t like it one bit.

7. I feel like that probably means I should go to bed early? Or drink kale? Or eat something citrusy?

8. But mostly go to bed early…right?

9. So in approximately 15 days, I will live across the street. From a WHOLE FOODS. I have never been one for believing in fate, but obviously the.boy and I were meant to move this past fall just so that I could be in such close proximity to my mecca. It’s going to be THE.BEST.

10. To celebrate the fact that they’re #MovinOnUp (to the upper east side!!), Whole Foods has so generously offered to let me give away a super awesome prize pack of ALL THINGS SPICY – namely Mike’s Hot Honey, A&B American Style Pepper Sauces, Bees Knees Spicy Honey, and Bad Seed Chili Granola. I’m hosting the giveaway on Instagram, so make sure you follow me and check out my post for more details!ย (FYI – to enter, you have to be an NYC resident.)

  1. Are you defying the laws of physics?! Mac and cheese dumplings?!

  2. SO awesome that you’ll be so close to Whole Foods! There is an amazing WF in the town where we moved last year….and it was most definitely a major factor in our decision making process. Enjoy it!

  3. bellini says:

Good luck with the move Joanne.

  4. Brand new Whole Foods is heaven… and right across the street? That is serious fate!

  5. My BFF just moved to the UES. She loves it. I will have to tell her about your giveaway! Living so close to that store is dangerous to your wallet but soooo awesome!

  6. Um these dumplings. Holy cow. I used to work at a bakery that made a mac and cheese pie. That was pretty incredible too! Jealous of your new proximity to whole foods! That’s going to be dangerous on the old wallet though!

  7. Emma says:

Still in disbelief with the whole mac and cheese dumpling thing… Also, haven’t seen Parenthood finale yet, sssshhh!!

  8. Those dumplings = SQUEAL. And living across the street from WF?! So freakin’ amazing and I am so jealous! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Sues says:

I’m so jealous a Whole Foods is magically appearing across the street from you. You’re never going to be able to move!!

I loved the Parenthood finale. A little too tied up in some ways, but I think it’s what we all needed!

    Mac and cheese dumplings… Yes!

  10. SallyBR says:

Joanne, I’ve been using this “trick” whenever I feel I might get a cold – I take A LOT of vitamin C chewable thingies – as many as my stomach will accept without too much discomfort. I might take 5 early in the morning, then a few more later in the day. I haven’t had a cold in 3 years, and a couple of months ago Phil had a real bad one, and I did not get sick

anyway, just an idea. Apparently you need to do that at the very first sign of symptoms

So you will have a Whole Paycheck nearby? Poor baby, I envy you, but I know I would go broke… still, looking forward to your adventures

  11. Mac and cheese IS totally a food group…so many ways to make it! And your way is KING! Yum!

  12. Marci says:

Living across from WF is a dream! I lived in St. Louis a few years ago when my husband did his fellowship there. We lived around the corner from Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and the Viking. It was foodie heaven.

  13. Meg says:

I’ve never stepped foot in — or even seen? — a Whole Foods, I have to admit. But I’m under the impression that they’re awesome! I would kill for a local Trader Joe’s or Wegman’s . . . or both, if I’m being greedy. The closest ones are 45 minutes to an hour away, and that’s just unacceptable!

  14. Mira says:

Good luck moving Joanne! These dumplings look so good!

  15. 1-I WANT THOSE MAC N CHEESE DUMPLINGS!
4-It was a perfect finale (even though I knew Zeke was going to die it was still sooooo sad!)
9-OMG I’M SO JEALOUS!!!!!! Tell Whole Foods I say hiiiii ๐Ÿ˜›

  16. Tina says:

I love Whole Foods & you are going to be so happy to be able to walk to one! I hope you aren’t getting sick but yeah, I would start drinking citrusy drinks.
    Love those dumplings

  17. Heather says:

Across the street from Whole Foods??? So much jealousy.

I cried quite a few times during the Parenthood finale. I was really hoping the event I was expecting wouldn’t come to pass, but even though it was so sad, I really appreciated how well they wrapped everything up. I didn’t have to wonder and it was one of the better endings of a series that I’ve seen.

  18. You totally just reminded me that in a month I’ll be in NYC and I get to shop at Whole Foods!!! (contemplating bringing a 2nd suitcase for just that purpose, that’s not weird, right?!)

  19. I like the 23 phrases post. I am conflict averse in a major way, so I am going to have to pull out the, “While Iโ€™m certain this is an oversight….” in the future. Congrats on the move across from the WF. Nice!

  20. Pam says:

Those dumplings have me drooling! Living across the street from Whole Foods would be very dangerous for this lady!

    Hope you feel better.

  21. if I lived across the road from a Whole Foods I don’t think I would have any money left. Luckily, or maybe unluckily, there isn’t one in my city and I have to travel 300 miles to shop there.

  22. How double exciting to be that close to a Whole Foods and that you’re hosting an awesome giveaway? And yes, drink kale. That’s what my new neighbor says is the cure for everything–haha.

  30. I have the verge-of-getting-sick tickle too. I am drinking tea all day. It’s glorious

  31. oh my gawd, Parenthood. I’m still so sad. I actually just watched the last episode last night. balled my eyes out. yeah, I’m glad that they showed us what happens to everyone. . still, so sad. ๐Ÿ™ but on to happy things. . like hello!!! living across the street from a WHOLE FOODS. love it, yo. it was meant to be. and for that on-the-verge-of-getting-sick tickle in your throat, I just down emergen-C like all day. hope you are able to get some rest today!

  32. Hi Joanne! Happy Wednesday!
Hope you do manage to see the back of that potential sickness with that kale and citrus (how about a kale-y citrus-y smoothie?) ๐Ÿ™‚

  33. Christina says:

Mac and Cheese dumplings… yes! And I’ve decided I could live in a Whole Foods. I’ll just put my sleeping bag by the hot foods bar…

  35. Kelly says:

Mac & cheese dumplings – omg I want the entire batch! Moving across from WF – the best!!! Good luck with the move ๐Ÿ™‚

  36. Mac n’ cheese dumplings look and sound awesome. We don’t have Whole Foods are here (yet anyways – one is coming here later this year not too far from where I currently live), but we have Wegmans and they are just the best.

  37. Zainab says:

I cannot wait to watch the final episode of parenthood!! We are still on the season before the end on Netflix but I love me the Bravermans. I know someone dies but I hope I don’t find out before I get there.

  38. Hope the throat tickle has gone away – Joanne – and good luck with the move.

  39. Kim says:

A WHOLE FOODS ACROSS THE STREET?!!! I’m so so jealous! The closest one to me is almost an HOUR away. Sorry for going all CAPS LOCK on you, but I get excited about a good grocery store. I’m sure you understand. ๐Ÿ™‚

  40. Kim says:

Joanne, you make me smile:) Congratulations on living across the street from Whole Foods! Believe me, I understand the excitement of being able to walk across the street for all your culinary needs! You are going to have so much fun living there. Glad to hear you are doing well. Sure hope you aren’t getting sick.

  41. Betty says:

Lucky! The closest Whole Foods is over an hour away from me. Bah.

  42. I still have about a million of those dumplings in my fridge. So. Much. Fun. Congrats on your new neighbor! Something tells me you’re gonna be besties ๐Ÿ˜‰

  45. Hope the throat tickle doesn’t turn into anything flu like!

  46. It I lived opposite a Whole Foods we would be substantially poorer!! How exciting though ๐Ÿ˜€

  47. Sarah says:

Mac and cheese dumplings sound amazing – bonus for being deep fried! Congrats on your move to a new place- the location sounds AMAZING.

  48. Johanna GGG says:
