chocolate peanut butter cake

1. You know what sucks? How baking fails can totally ruin your day.

2. Last night I had a terrible run-in with a Bad Cookie Recipe and apparently I’m still not over it. I probably shouldn’t let it get to me this much, but I kind of really want to punch that cookie recipe author in the face.

3. You guys would back me up, right?

4. The.Boy and I are all caught up on Scandal!!! Which WOULD be a good thing if it didn’t mean we now have to wait a week in-between episodes. How can we be expected to live like this?!?

5. Also, House of Cards. We’re a few episodes into this last season and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. It’s definitely not as captivating as in the past (too political, not enough human interest), but maybe I”m just not up to the good parts yet?

6. Honeymoon planning is officially UNNNDDEEERRRWAAAYYY! We are hiring a travel agent because neither of us really wants to plan anything, and she is totally into my plan for us to eat ALL OF THE THINGS.

7. I love that she gets me.

8. If she signs us up for a make-your-own-gelato class, I might have to marry her.

9. Though I will settle for a list of all the best gelateria’s within a 20 minute walk of our hotels.  #Priorities.

Honeymoon plans sound aaaaah-mazing! I’m huge into making my own plans, and always scout every blog/article/anything really that I can find online. Travel agent sounds super time-efficient though!

    Eat ALL the gelato!!

  2. Love honeymoon planning! So much fun. When we went to France and Belgium, we were all about the food, beer, and wine… I mean really, are there any other reasons to travel? 😉

  3. 1. I will totally beat up that cookie recipe for you.
    2. With you on Scandal and HOC. And just binge-watched season one of Outlander. DO IT.
    3. Your honeymoon plans sound perfect.
    4. What is the heaven that is the picture at the top of your post???

  4. We took a cooking lesson in Italy on our honeymoon and it was amazing. SO jealous that you are planning your trip now. Please carb load for me:-)

And I always have your back, especially when it comes to cookies!

  5. Post gelato headline: Newlywed divorces husband, married travel agent for DIY gelato experience. That sounds about right.

  6. Sues says:

Baking (and cooking) fails can totally ruin days!!

Dying laughing over the thought of you marrying your travel agent while on your honeymoon…

  7. Okay I’m hoping that there’s a recipe coming with that cake because damnnnn. Also yay honeymoon planning! I’m going to New York City for my birthday this year and it’s literally just planned around the meals. 🙂

  8. Christina says:

That would be the best travel agent!

  9. 1-ummm that picture??? I WANT IT
2-Ughhhh recipe fails ARE the worst!!!
    3-eeeee yay for honeymoon!!!!!

  10. CakePants says:

I would totally back you up on the bad cookie recipe front – I baked a batch the other day from a recipe I found online that were completely bleeeeech. Bad cookies = bad mood!

  11. Are you going to Italy for your honeymoon? Which bit?

  12. Heather says:

Definitely nothing worse than a baking fail. I can handle almost any other kind of cooking fail, but not when it’s in the dessert category.

Using a travel agent sounds like a really good idea too – less stress so that way you can sit back while someone else does the research and hard planning. Brilliant!

  13. Trisha says:

The cake in that photo above is definitely not a baking fail–can’t wait for that recipe. I totally feel you on the failed recipe anger though–it gets me too! Can’t wait to hear more details about this gelato-filled honeymoon!

  14. Wait – what’s this about a make your own gelato class? Think I might need a don’t-eat-all-the-gealato-you-make class too!

  15. Zainab says:

First of all…yay to Scandal!!! It’s painful to wait every week I know. As for failed cookie recipes, I am not a fan. I tried a friend’s recipe from her blog last weekend just coz I craved cookies and they failed. The worst blow in the stomach ever coz I feel bad saying something and had no cookie. And you are right, House of Cards didn’t captivate me as much this season. Way too much politics and less human evil behaviors. But maybe we just crave that?

  16. Hooray for HONEYMOON!! Girl you NEED a break!!! You do sooooo soooo much! Also I feel your cookie fail pain- totally experienced that post fail depression!

  17. I love that you guys want to eat all the things. Your humor captivates me every single time, Jo!

  18. Don’t fret over the cookie flop- it happens to all of us~! The honeymoons plans is exciting!

  19. Sometimes, to keep your sanity, with wedding planning why not allow someone else to do the heavy lifting. I’ve been in enough weddings to know that they’re stressful. So wherever you can afford help, you should take it. You should definitely post photos of the whole trip.

How exciting-honeymoon planning sounds great! Had 2 baking fails last week and still can’t get over them! Still have to catch up on house of cards 🙂

  21. SallyBR says:

I will help you punching the face of the author…. I’ve been through similar situations and as you said, it sucks.

glad that you will have a honeymoon ahead, you deserve it, you both do!

  22. Lynn says:

I would totally back you up!

  23. I hate it when you are all caught up on the TV show and then you realise that means having to wait to watch more. The problems we have!

  24. We planned our recent trip to California based soley on eating and drinking! I have tons of baking failures, so many they don’t even faze me anymore.

  25. Kate says:

Baking fails get me ridiculously frustrated.

  26. P says:

Honeymoon plans sound exciting! That cake you have pictured looks farrrrrr from a baking fail, so I imagine that made up for failed cookies 🙂 ?

  27. I’ve had quite a few baking fails and I know it especially when I get someone to try and they say “a little too dry” or “is it ok if i just have half of what you gave me” haha….but seriously its true it can ruin your day. You always know you could and maybe should have done better i guess. xo

  28. I will Sooo back you up on the cookies. I know exactly how you feel. I’ve failed on a babka recipe three times and it makes me so upset!!

Ugh, ever since getting rid of cable, I’ve been dying over all the TV I’m missing. I’m stalking the netflix schedule to see when they plan to add the latest seasons of… Everything!

Honeymoon planning sounds like so much fun! All the gelato!

  29. Christine says:

Oh what fun, traveling and to my favorite parts of Italy. I like your idea of mapping out gelaterias near your hotels.

  30. Reeni says:

Baking fails suck BIG time! But in other news – honeymoon planning – EXCITING! I shall live through you.

  31. Hotly Spiced says:

I’m currently watching the US version of The Office. It seems I have a few series to catch up on. Also watching Downton Abbey although there’s a two-week hiatus because of Easter. So cruel to be kept dangling for so long. The honeymoon plans/lack of plans sound wonderful xx

  32. Honeymoon planning, sounds like a lot of fun!!

  33. Kelly says:

Boo to baking fails, those are no fun 🙁 I had a few this week too. Yay for honeymoon planning and yes to lots of gelato!

  34. From the gelato plans, does honeymoon planning involve Italy? I look forward to hearing what the travel agent rustles up!

  35. Danguole says:

Your honeymoon is already sounding perfect. As long as there’s pizza and pasta to eat before and after gelato, yeah?

I actually really like this season of HoC–I thought the only interesting place to go would be to deal with the tension that would naturally arise between Claire and Frank. But season one was still the best.

  36. Sarah says:

Sounds like your honeymoon will be a blast! 🙂 I also like to pack in lots of delicious eats when I visit places! I can’t wait to hear about all the things you ate when you come back. In fact if you kept a journal online during your honeymoon, I will probably check it every day. Or you know, refresh a couple times a day to see what you two ate!

  37. My husband is addicted to House of Cards. . . I’ve only watched a few episodes with him. . and yes to the travel agent. . let a professional just handle it for you. . and hooray for honeymoon planning! So exciting!

  38. Kelsey says:

Girl, if you want some food recs in Venice, let me know. I was there three years ago and ate so. many. things. And they were all delicious.

  39. Johanna GGG says:

I think I am well enough behind to see that the cookie fail was well rescued and I still remember some of the gelato I had in Rome – wish I could return there (if you want anyone to carry suitcases or anything)
