I feel like I have five trillion things to update you guys on today but first things first.

Google Reader…is leaving us. For those of you who follow by email or just stop by on various days of the week to check in, you are fine and nothing will change. For those of you who follow Eats Well With Others via RSS feed and use Google Reader to do so…it’s probably best to switch over to another feed reader in the next few days to avoid losing all of your blog subscriptions! Some Google Reader alternatives that I’ve tried out are Bloglovin and Feedly. The nice thing about these two are that pretty much as soon as you sign in, they’ll ask you if you want to import your Google Reader subscriptions so you pretty much have to do nothing except check YES and then everything is done for you.  I, personally, am partial to Feedly but you should check out both and see what works for you!

Next…if you love salad-less salads as much as I do, then you NEED to check out my latest post on this Honey Mustard Broccoli Salad with Beluga Lentils over at Culinary Covers!

And then, because there is really never such a thing as too MANY summer salads, head on over to Marcus Samuelsson’s site to check out my post on this Broccolini and Sweet Sesame Salad (also my submission to this week’s IHCC!).

Disclaimer: While I received a free lunch from Pret A Manger for the sake of trying out some new menu items, my thoughts and opinions on them are my own.

And now, have you guys ever heard of Pret A Manger?  It’s always been kind of on my radar, but I’d always thought of it as “that British fast food chain” and didn’t really give it much of a second thought.

Then, last week I was invited to have lunch at their location on 23rd street (near Madison Square Park) and learn more about some new products they would be releasing especially for summer.  And now I just can’t stop thinking about them.

Unbeknownst to me, Pret A Manger really places a HUGE emphasis on sourcing local, high quality, seasonal ingredients for their meals. They have a whole list of chemicals and preservatives that they refuse to let anywhere near their dining establishments (and certainly never in their kitchens) and are really pretty picky about the small list of things they do allow in their products. Love that.

In addition, they donate all of their leftover food to charity, which is always a plus in my book.

Recently, they have been putting a lot of time and energy into developing some fun salads to include in their summer line-up, all of which launched and are officially in stores as of yesterday.  I was one of the lucky few who got to try these before their official release and I have to say, I can’t wait to go back for more.

My favorite was above and beyond the Berries and Beets salad (I mean…three HUGE coins of goat cheese all for under 400 calories. Yes. Please.) but the Falafel Meze, Market Fresh, and Wild Salmon salads were all worth going back for seconds. If you are located in New York, DC, Chicago, and Boston and are near a Pret, I would definitely recommend checking them out for lunch or dinner. It’s rare to find a “fast food” option with such quality ingredients and it’s always great that you can get a meal that you feel good about even while on the go!

  15. P says:

I love it when companies donate leftover food. That’s why I don’t mind eating at Panera from time to time.

Berries and beets in one salad AND with goat cheese?! Three of my favorites in one—YUM!!!

  16. I ate my way through London with lunch at Pret, daily. So tasty!

Ah, I wish there were more Pret’s around! They were an absolute lifesaver when I was visiting England. Plenty of fresh, vegan-friend options, ready to grab and go. It was one of the few places that my whole family could easily find something to eat. Now they just need to adopt your fabulous salads, and it would be perfect!

  31. Sarah says:

I’m loving lentils right now – so thanks so much for the recipe! Definitely getting a spin in the rotation!

  32. Natalie G says:

Haven’t cooked with lentils in awhile but this recipe makes me want too. I need nice refreshing meals in this hot hot weather!

  33. Emily says:

Awesome salad! That’s cool that you’re featured! Congratulations. I’m jealous you got to try some samples at pret a manger. That sounds like so much fun. I believe they had those in Chicago, but I never had the chance to try it.

  34. Hotly Spiced says:

I find it so difficult to keep up with all the constant changes regarding social media. It’s an endless battle. I love broccolini and buy it often but it’s quite expensive here – usually you have to buy two bunches for $6.00. I don’t know why it isn’t more affordable. xx

  35. Dining Alone says:

I have been using Feedly since Google announced they are killing off the reader. I guess the newly revamped Digg folks are making a reader also.

  36. I had seen the beluga lentil salad on Culinary Covers the other day and it made me drool. I love how simple, yet still fancy, it feels! Definitely planning to add this to my dinner rotation.

  37. That Girl says:

I just moved over to feedly earlier this month!

  38. I love broccoli! Never thought of making it into a salad. Thanks for the inspiration Joanne. It looks delicious!

I AM SO UPSET ABOUT GOOGLE READER!!

  40. I love salad-less salads too, not that I don’t like leafy ones too but legume/grain salads fill a different need.
    These both look yummy.
I used to love Pret when I was vegetarian but since I’ve gone vegan I’ve realized that they their vegan options are very limited sadly! The company does have great principles though.

  41. Kari says:

This salad looks great 🙂 And I am so glad I got over my Google Reader grief before it actually went – I ended up switching to The Old Reader and I like it more than the others I tried (which in my I-hate-change state I hated!).

  42. healthified honey mustard?!? loveeee! i’m sad about google reader too. i’m using feedly but it’s just not the same. TEAR!

  43. Nutmeg Nanny says:
