You won’t believe the things I found in my crisper drawer on Saturday.

Let’s just say it is the place where cucumbers go to die.

And turn to mush.

And leak their mush all over every other vegetable in a very sadistic, “IF I’M GOING DOWN, I’M TAKING YOU DOWN WITH ME!” kind of way.

They are so self-involved, it’s unbelievable.

I’m not usually one to put the fate of my dinner in the hands of Rachel Ray, but as we made our way back down to the hotel lobby after dropping off our bags in our room, Cate said, “Let’s ask the concierge where to go.  That’s what Rach always says to do.”

And, well.  Given that I’ve been reading her blog every day without fail since before I even had one of my own and thus trust her implicitly with, not only my time but also what goes on my dinner table (the two most precious things in my life).  I agreed.

Plus it was late.  We were tired.  And sure, we could have headed into Boston or Cambridge, but local sounded good.

When Patsy tweeted that she was “gathering healthy munchies for our road trip”, I responded, vivaciously and enthusiastically.

“YES.  ME TOO!”

(Capital letters plus exclamation mark = vivacity and enthusiasm.  Math according to Twitter.)

Then I happened to glance at my kitchen table.  Oats.  Dried pineapple.  Crystallized ginger.  And chocolate.

Okay, so maybe I got a little teensy weensy bit caught up in the moment.

I tweeted her and Cate back, in all lowercase letters, saying “uh. moderately healthy.”

Don’t look at me like that.  OATS, people!  OATS!  These are cholesterol-lowering granola bars!  (No, I do not have my medical degree yet, why do you ask?)

I was super proud of myself when I watched the news at the gym last week.  I felt all updated on the goings on in the world.  Like I could carry on a real conversation with a real person if I had to.

For example, like on a date, I could say something like, “So this whole Lindsay and Paris frenemy situation is really nerve wrecking, huh?”

Oh right.  Um.  It was E! News.

That still counts, right?
